It's the most wonderful time of the year, which means we turn our attentions to the most wonderful of Christmas movies: Frank Capra's It's A Wonderful Life. The film was something of a disappointment on initial release but has matured into a holiday staple... does that make it Canon-worthy? This week Amy and I look at the history and the filmmaking of It's A Wonderful Life and come down pretty hard on the same side. Listen below and then go here to vote.
One extra this week: with all the to-do about The Interview happening as we recorded, we decided to nominate this film for the Canon based on historic value alone. Everything surrounding this movie is unprecedented, but that just means it's setting a pretty powerful - and possibly negative - precedent. It's up to you to vote whether this movie (which you've probably not seen!) deserves to make the Canon on this criteria alone.
Next week: it's our nominations for which 2014 film belongs in the Canon. My choice may surprise (and irritate) you.
