Will Arnett's got a new comedy on Netflix, home to his shows Arrested Development and Bojack Horseman. But unlike those two series, Flaked is co-created and co-written by Arnett with Mark Chappell, and they're producing alongside Arrested Development's Mitch Hurwitz, The Office's Ben Silverman and Running Wilde's Peter Principato.
Here's the scoop:
Set in Venice, California, Flaked tells the story of self-appointed “guru” Chip (Arnett), who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. Soon the tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullshit that underpins his all-important image and sobriety begins to unravel.
"The object of his best friend's fascination": while I assume this means a traditional love triangle, maybe his best friend is into that whole objectum sexuality scene that's so trendy these days. He could be fascinated by a urinal or a seahorse, for all we know.
Some quotes! Per Netflix VP of original content Cindy Holland:
We are thrilled to be the home of Will Arnett’s next series, and look forward to Chip joining his repertoire alongside such diverse and inspirational characters such as Gob, Bojack, and Batman.
We’re very excited to partner with Netflix–the home of original, original content–and the network I knew would be the ideal home for this passion project.
Netflix has given the comedy an eight-episode order. The show's scheduled for 2016.
