Here is a thing that is being said over at Deadline Hollywood:
I’m cautioned that while things are very early, I hear the studio has set its sights on Chris Pratt as the swashbuckling archaeologist they hope to build the new franchise around, the role made famous by Harrison Ford in Raiders Of The Lost Ark...
Disney won’t comment and all this is admittedly early, so let’s chalk it up as a dishy informed rumor for now and keep an eye on it.
I'll say this for Deadline's "informed rumor": it's certainly a step up from those Bradley Cooper rumblings we heard a while back. As most of the world learned during last summer's Guardians Of The Galaxy, Chris Pratt is a massively likable screen presence. Dude's got the chops to pull off comedy, drama and tough-guy leading man theatrics as needed, and he's got charisma for days. Could he play Indiana Jones? Yes, I believe he could.
Should we be rebooting the Indiana Jones franchise? That's another question entirely. Asking it's almost besides the point, though. Disney didn't snag the rights off Paramount a few years back just so it could let them collect dust, and with Star Wars and Marvel churning out hits on the regular, it makes sense that the company would be in the early stages of figuring out what to do with 'em.
In other words, we're going to get another Indiana Jones movie whether we like it or not, and my response to the above boils down to: well, I can imagine worse choices for the role. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?
