Sci-Fi Romance, PASSENGERS, Could Get New Start With IMITATION GAME Director

Will someone please just make this movie, already?

Passengers has taken a long, hard road to the big screen. The film was once supposed to star Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdams only to lose those stars and its distributor last March.

But now maybe things are looking up again. Sony purchased the project, and according to Deadline, may get Imitation Game and Headhunters director Morten Tyldum to do the film. He would be shooting a script by Jon Spaihts with a whole new cast.

For those who don’t know, Passengers is a really cool-sounding romantic science fiction film in which one guy wakes up in the middle of a ninety-year space trip. He can either grow old and die alone or wake up a pretty lady. So he wakes up a pretty lady. After hating him for twenty years (I assume), they begin a relationship based on that old “not if you were the last man on Earth” taunt.

I’m sad about the cast we lost, but I still have high hopes for this concept. Hopefully Tyldum does a good job with it, if he gets the job, that is.
