Badass Exclusive: Behind The Scenes Of Javier Navarette’s ZHONG KUI: SNOW GIRL AND THE DARK CRYSTAL

This is an incredible score.

It’s only March and I think I may have already found a serious contender for best score of 2015. The film comes all the way from China and is entitled Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal, featuring music by Spanish composer Javier Navarette. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the music is definitely piquing my interest. It sounds like Navarette has really outdone himself this time, which is saying a lot because he’s authored some masterful scores throughout his career. He composed the music for The Devil’s Backbone (2001) and Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), which was my number one favorite score of that year.

Lakeshore Records is releasing the soundtrack on March 3, 2015. To help promote this amazing album, they’ve produced an incredible “behind-the-scenes” video featuring footage of the recording process and an exclusive interview with Navarette. This is amazing!
