Joe Carnahan To Direct MOTORCADE For DreamWorks

All signs point to awesome with this one.

Joe Carnahan hasn’t had a movie hit theaters since 2011’s excellent The Grey. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy, however. His DTV film, Stretch, came out recently and had a lot going for it even with a miniature budget. He also does a lot of TV work for shows like The Blacklist and State of Affairs.

But still, this is a guy who should have another shot at the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s getting one with Dreamworks’ Motorcade, a project that has been in development for quite some time. Many writers have taken a shot at it. Carnahan himself will do a rewrite, even. At one point, Len Wiseman was attached to direct it with Tom Cruise starring.

So what’s this wacky movie about? It involves a Secret Service agent who has to go kick some ass when terrorists attack the president’s motorcade. I don’t know why it takes a million writers and many potential directors to get something so awesome-sounding off the ground, but I’m glad that it’s finally happening, particularly with Carnahan at the helm. Considering the Len Wiseman thing, this movie not only dodged a bullet but won the lottery as well.
