X-Men: Apocalypse is a very curious film so far. Set in the ‘80s and featuring a villain that never made much sense, the film has a lot of opportunity to be whatever it wants. Even the cast seems like a weird hodgepodge of what we already know (from two different versions of the series) and what Bryan Singer wants to reintroduce (hence the recasting of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Nightcrawler).
Whatever we end up getting, it is likely to be Jennifer Lawrence’s last ride on the X-Men wagon. Talking to MTV, Lawrence claims of Apocalypse: “It is my last one, actually.”
Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t really need any X-Men movies at this point, so her getting out of the series does make sense. On the other hand, this could just be one of those negotiations through the press kind of things. And on the third hand (a third hand is this story’s special mutation), maybe they kill her at the end, and she’s really bummed out about it.
In the meantime, X-Men: Apocalypse has yet to start filming. The plan is for it to come out May 27, 2016.
