Fox Is Developing A ROCKY HORROR Television Remake

Gross? Yay? Who cares?

Fox is making a two-hour television special remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show in anticipation of the film's fortieth anniversary. The film will be directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega, of Gilmore GirlsHocus Pocus and High School Musical fame.

Tentatively titled The Rocky Horror Picture Show Event, the project is described as a reimagining of the campy horror feature, which, 40 years after its release continues, to play in theaters around the world – the longest theatrical distribution frame for any film in history...

The TV remake is expected to stick faithfully to the text and the score of the original but greatly reimagine the story visually.

This feels inevitable, as does the outcry of Rocky Horror fans who want their beloved film untouched. I can't say I care one way or another, but this is a good time to link to Devin and Amy's The Canon episode from Monday - voting is still open on Rocky Horror! Do you believe the film's an all-timer?
