Vince Gilligan’s Breaking BEANSTALK For Disney

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has an unexpected new gig: he wrote an outline for a "revisionist take" on the Jack and the Beanstalk legend, and Disney's acquired it. Gilligan's intended to produce the project, and Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul writer Thomas Schnauz will write the screenplay. Schnauz also worked with Gilligan on The X-Files and The Lone Gunmen, so these two have been writing partners for well over a decade.

That's all we know, but it's enough. The two words "Vince Gilligan" are enough, frankly. Normally the phrase "revisionist take" for a fairy tale would set off some alarms - it sounds so much like Jack's going to get himself a grim and gritty origin story - but again, Vince Gilligan. Bought and sold.
