I generally make it a point to watch Jaws at least once a year. And this year, it looks like I might be able to enjoy that viewing on the big screen.
To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Jaws, Fatham Events (that company that usually does nationwide screenings of operas, live Rifftrax events, and Glenn Beck video diaries) will host four screenings of Jaws, two at 2pm and 7pm June 21 and two more at the same times June 24.
The presentations will include a “specially introduced introduction from TCM Weekend Daytime host Ben Mankiewicz,” which is obviously the real draw, here. You can probably go home after the intro if you want.
This is worth sharing for a couple of reasons. One, it’s a limited event rather than a rerelease, so it likely won't have a huge promotional push behind it. Two, many of us don’t have the luxury of living near cool repertory theaters and always have to miss out on cool stuff like this. I, for instance, have always wanted to see Jaws on the big screen but until now never had an opportunity. And three, it’s fucking Jaws.
