JUSTIFIED Executive Producer Chris Provenzano Is Taking On Elmore Leonard’s GUNSIGHTS

No one does Leonard like the JUSTIFIED guys.

Elmore Leonard was famously an enormous fan of Justified's portrayal of his words, so it seems fitting that Justified EP Chris Provenzano has signed a deal with AMC including a drama series adapting Elmore's 1979 western novel Gunsights. Here's the summary:

Brendan Early and Dana Moon have tracked renegade Apaches together and gunned down scalp hunters to become Arizona legends. But now they face each other from opposite sides of what newspapers are calling The Rincon Mountain War. Brendan and a gang of mining company gun thugs are dead set on running Dana and "the People of the Mountain" from their land. The characters are unforgettable, the plot packed with action and gunfights from beginning to end.

I haven't read this particular Leonard book, but it sounds awfully manly! Provenzano is returning to AMC after working on the first season of Mad Men before making the jump to FX. AMC's been itching to replace the successful Hell on Wheels with a new Western series, and Gunsights sounds about as Western as it gets. Anything that brings Leonard's terse and compelling dialogue back to the small screen is a-okay by me.
