David Yates’ FANTASTIC BEASTS May Have Found Its Queenie

Casting rumors continue for JK Rowling's HARRY POTTER spin-off.

Things are chugging right along for David Yates' Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, an adaptation of the Harry Potter spin-off written by series creator JK Rowling. The film - due next November - already has a strong director, a script written by Rowling herself (her screenwriting debut!), and a leading man in the form of Eddie Redmayne (last seen screaming his way through Jupiter Ascending), and now it may have a female lead in its sights. According to Variety:

Sources tell Variety that Alison Sudol is the choice for the role of Queenie, the younger sister of Tina, who runs into Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when he stops in New York City on his travels to find and document magical creatures.

It is unknown where things stand in the negotiations, but sources add that Sudol has been Yates’ favorite for some time. The director hasn’t met with any other actress for the role following Sudol’s original test.

If Yates isn't meeting with anyone else, well...that's a pretty good sign, right?

So, what do we know about this Alison Sudol? Well, she plays Kaya on Transparent, Emma on USA's Dig, and is apparently also a singer-songwriter (that's her in the video below, with her band A Fine Frenzy). This is precisely three more things than I know about Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, so I don't have much of a reaction to this news one way or another. I do know that Warner Bros. is determined to get this movie right, though, and Yates has certainly earned my trust via his previous work in the Potter world. What do you guys think?
