You'll recall that our own Evan Saathoff caught and recapped WB's Suicide Squad panel at Comic-Con over the weekend. You might also recall that, unfortunately (and unlike the Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer that screened during the same panel), the Suicide Squad footage wasn't immediately posted online. This resulted in precisely the sort of thing Warner Bros. wanted to avoid: people with cell phones recorded the footage off Hall H's massive presentation screens.
The pirated footage was, of course, terrible quality and a pretty shitty way for most of us to get our first look at David Ayer's film. Good news is, it provoked Warner Bros. into posting a hi-res version of the trailer, just now. Now we can all enjoy it without that ugly, pirate-y aftertaste. Here it is:
As expected, Jared Leto's Joker is highly questionable, but on the whole, I gotta say: I'm feeling this. It's weird and creepy and has me legit intrigued to see what the final product's going to look like (as Evan already wondered: where does this thing land in terms of an MPAA rating?), which is...well, overall, it's a more positive response than I expected to have to this trailer. What do you guys think?
David Ayer's Suicide Squad opens August 5th, 2016. Don't even pretend like you're not going to see it.
PS: Here's the film's official logo, just in case you hadn't seen it.
