The Canon Episode 35: DOUBLE INDEMNITY
We had a short hiatus but now The Canon is back, as big as and just as good as before! I hope you missed us.
This week's episode sees us turning our attention the 1944 (yes, I looked it up after it gave us so much trouble in the episode) movie Double Indemnity, an early Billy Wilder film and perhaps the focal point through which all film noir later came. It's got Fred MacMurray as an insurance agent who teams up with Barbara Stanwyck, a hot dame, to pull off the perfect murder. Based on the hardboiled crime novel by James M. Cain, Double Indemnity boasts a screenplay by Wilder and Raymond Chandler, who we learn this episode hated each other.
