Somebody Talk Tom Cruise Out Of His EDGE OF TOMORROW Sequel Idea

Leave the movie be!

I am a big fan of Edge of Tomorrow, popularly retitled in the public consciousness as Live. Die. Repeat (just like Birth.Movies.Death!), and I want as many people as possible to experience the thrill and joy of this perfect little gem. What I don't want: a sequel. Sometimes one is enough! Sometimes it stands on its own and it's all good and that's all we need.

But Tom Cruise disagrees. The star of the upcoming MIssion: Impossible - Rogue Nation has a plan for an Edge of Tomorrow 2

“I pitched it to [“Rogue Nation” director and “Edge of Tomorrow” screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and [“Edge of Tomorrow” director] Doug [Liman]. We were there one night and I was like, I’ve got an idea for it,” he said to MTV. “It could be so much fun... Gotta get Emily. I was like Emily, please. She was like, ’give me another year, please.'”

There's apparently a sequel to the original Japanese source material, the novel All You Need Is Kill, on the way but it sounds like Cruise has his own ideas popping off.

Look, a sequel could be good, but at the same time Edge of Tomorrow is perfectly self-contained. I don't feel the need to return to that world or those characters. They earned their ending.
