Way back in February, when 2015 was still new and learning how to walk, talk, and put its stinky waste in the proper place, Patrick Stewart said he was very likely to appear as Charles Xavier in the next Wolverine movie. Now he’s doing it again, that rascal!
In an interview with Collider, Stewart had this to say:
“I think what you say is true. There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”
In regards to Wolverine 3 being an Old Man Logan tale, he said this:
“And the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.”
How can you not love this guy? The good news here is that if this is true, Stewart will be more than a cute cameo in Wolverine 3, which is definitely something I like to hear. He and Hugh Jackman have a nice chemistry, and the characters work well together on a narrative level. And since Stewart is now officially the old version of Xavier, his involvement indicates a large jump forward in time. Like all the way to 2000, which is the earliest we know Xavier was old enough to start looking like Patrick Stewart. My head is starting to hurt.
