Takashi Miike’s YAKUZA APOCALYPSE Gets North American Distribution

This sounds like it could be a blast.

It’s no wonder that a guy who makes 10,000 movies a year will occasionally put out some stinkers. Or sometimes a bunch of stinkers. This is my way of explaining why I haven’t seen a new Takashi Miike movie in a while.

But I still have a soft spot for the guy and would love to see him put out something great. Yakuza Apocalypse sounds like it could be worth getting excited for. The story is pretty goofy. A Yakuza boss is also a crazy vampire. A rival Yakuza gang kills him, but before he dies he passes his powers to his number two guy. Now, this fella has to go get some revenge! The Raid's Yayan Ruhian is in it!

If that sounds good to you, you’re in luck. The film has just been picked up by Samuel Goldwyn Films for North American distribution. That means you don’t have to travel to Asia to see it! What a huge load lifted from your shoulders.

Yakuza Apocalypse will play the Toronto International Film Festival. It’ll get a theatrical release soon after, starting October 9.
