Good Guy Bill Murray Cameos In GHOSTBUSTERS To Offer His Support
It has to be hard for the haters to continue calling the Ghostbuster reboot illegitimate when even Bill Murray is showing up to do a cameo. And it turns out that Bill did that cameo very specifically to add a touch of legitimacy to the film. He has given it his blessing. But it wasn't an easy decision.
“I thought about it for a very long time,” he tells Vulture. “Like, many, many months. No, that’s not right. I was seriously thinking about this for years, really … It kept eating at me, and I really respect those girls. And then I started to feel like if I didn’t do this movie, maybe somebody would write a bad review or something, thinking there was some sort of disapproval [on my part].”
There's an enormous amount of awareness on display here - he's tuned in to how people feel about this movie, I think, or at least how the bad people feel - and also an enormous amount of kindness. He spent a day or two working on this movie in order to free them, at least a little, from the cloud of expectations and the possibility of ugly gossip.
That'll do, Bill.
