The Canon Episode 41: FREAKS

Tod Browning's cult classic comes up for review.

It is possible that I talk a little too much in this episode of The Canon, but if so it's only because Freaks is really my jam. It's a movie that has been very important to me, and it's a movie that has defined me not only through the film itself but also through a lot of the culture it influenced. It is a big deal to me.

It's also good! Even at a shortened length - the original cut was maybe 20-30 minutes longer and is forever lost - it's a great film. This isn't one of those episodes of The Canon where we endlessly fight, it's one of those episode where we're on the same page - so sorry, people who tune in for anger!

Hopefully you guys agree and you can make your vote known in this thread at the Wolfpop forum. Also hopefully you want to rate and review this show and share it with all your friends. And also, while we're at it, maybe you want to subscribe to Howl.FM, the new Earwolf/Wolfpop subscription service that will be the home to exclusive Canon Commentaries. We recorded our first one last week - it's Goodfellas, and it'll be available later this month.
