Rejoice: Netflix’s WITH BOB & DAVID Arrives In November
We've been talking about With Bob And David - Netflix's new comedy series that looks a helluva lot like Mr. Show but definitely shouldn't be considered Mr. Show, particularly by anyone at HBO - for months now, collecting up every scrap of info we could find (It's filming in March! Almost the entire cast is returning! Only four half-hour episodes...so do you call it a "season"?!) and wondering when it might be ready for binge-watching.
Today, thanks to the goood people at Variety, we have an answer:
Bob Odenkirk and David Cross’ sketch comedy show “W/ Bob and David” will premiere Friday, Nov. 13 on Netflix, the streaming service announced Wednesday.
Odenkirk and Cross have reunited for four new 30-minute episodes, which will also feature the likes of Paul F. Tompkins, Jill Talley, Jay Johnston, John Ennis, Brian Posehn and more...In the series — after the pair have been dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALs — Bob and David are back serving the U.S. in the way they do best: making sketch comedy.
But, wait, there's more: Netflix also released the first teaser for the show. It's incredibly brief!
There's a part of me that still can't believe this is happening. Like The Kids In The Hall and Saturday Night Live, Mr. Show is a legitimate classic, for any number of reasons (it launched the careers of some of our most beloved comedic performers; it was weird and subversive and like nothing else on television at that time, with the added bonus of being on HBO, where it was free to go R-rated as needed; it's been hugely influential), and seeing this team brought back together...I mean, did any of you actually think this would happen? I didn't.
So, I'm thrilled (on a scale of 1 to 24, I'm a 24). How about you guys?
