THE REVENANT Gets A New Trailer, Still Looks Amazing
A new trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant popped up online this morning, and holy moly is it beautiful. The film - which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domnhall Gleason, and would-be Pennywise Will Poulter - is based on the true story of one Hugh Glass, who was savagely mauled by a bear and left for dead by a handful of highly-unreliable friends while traipsing around South Dakota. It's a harrowing, borderline-unbelievable tale, one that's been in the works with various directors and stars attached for over a decade. Looks like Iñárritu's done it justice.
I mean, Jesus, this thing looks incredible. All my misgivings about Birdman aside, I really cannot wait for this.
And the good news is, we don't have to wait much longer: The Revenant will get a limited release on Christmas Day (fingers crossed that it's playing at the same Drafthouse where I'll be seeing Hateful Eight; I wanna back-to-back these monsters), followed by a wide release on January 8th, 2016. Stay tuned between now and then for any updates that might come along, and feel free to salivate over The Revenant's gorgeous cinematography in the comments below until then.
