Steven Spielberg Accidentally Threatens INDIANA JONES 5
Steven Spielberg has a new movie coming out (for those in the dark, it’s called Bridge of Spies). That means people are interviewing him. And THAT means he occasionally says stuff that just drives fans crazy.
In this case, Spielberg did a video interview with Yahoo, during which he added up all the times he’s worked with Tom Hanks and Harrison Ford (four times each - ask your mom if she can name them all!). While doing this math, he let slip that Ford will actually end up ahead of Hanks after their next Indiana Jones film:
“We’ve gotta figure this out because now,” Spielberg says. “Tom is tied with Harrison Ford: Harrison and I did four movies, Tom and I have done four movies. Now I’ll probably do an Indy 5 with Harrison. It’ll be five for Harrison, four for Tom… [Then] I’ve got to make another one with Tom, so that will be five for Tom, five for Harrison. And I think I’m going to leapfrog that way for the rest of my career. With Daniel Day-Lewis in everything else!”
So there you have it. In the most off-handed way possible, Spielberg lets us know that Indiana Jones 5 is something he still considers remotely possible. He may be the only one. Nevertheless, this may come as a surprise to those who expected a big Indiana Jones recast/reboot.
Really though, the biggest news here is that Daniel Day-Lewis is going to be in every Spielberg movie from here on out. That’s a big deal, and I can’t wait to see what roles he plays in Ready Player One and The BFG.
