Legendary’s Giant Monster Film Slate Gets An Official Timetable

Yes, but when do they fight The Avengers?

So with Legendary and Kong: Skull Island’s move from Universal to Warner Bros, we all pretty much knew that a King Kong vs Godzilla movie was in our future (excluding anyone who dies between now and then).

Now we know when that’s going to happen. Kong: Skull Island will hit theaters in 2017, followed the next year by Godzilla 2. Then we wait two years and get to enjoy a somehow more gigantic than normal King Kong take on Godzilla in 2020.

That’s about all we know, which isn’t surprising considering the five goddamn years it will be before this all plays out. I kind of feel sorry for Kong: Skull Island in the wake of all this "vs" excitement. It seems like such small potatoes by comparison. We’re not really talking about it anymore, but even Godzilla 2 is expected to have heavy hitters like Mothra and King Ghidorah (and Rodan, if you’re into that loser). Kong: Skull Island will have to be pretty damn cool to measure up.

We’ll see if it does on March 10, 2017. In the meantime, watch some Gamera movies!
