Rob Zombie’s 31 Currently Stuck With An NC-17 Rating

But where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Even when I don’t love Rob Zombie’s films, I always kind of love Rob Zombie. If nothing else, I’m glad he’s out there making his weird-ass horror movies. His last, The Lords of Salem was an excellent step up for him as a filmmaker, so I’m excited to see what he does next.

That next film is called 31, and apparently it’s having some trouble getting an R rating from the MPAA. According to a Facebook post from Zombie himself, the film has already had two failed passes with the group:

Well, after two tries through the MPAA our rating on 31 remains NC-17. Maybe three is the charm to get an R rating. Why R you ask? Well, because your local theater will not show an NC-17. Even though you are a fucking adult... things much be censored for your enjoyment.

Eventually, I’m sure he’ll trim enough for the film to get its desired rating. And ultimately, this means we’ll surely get an unrated Blu in the future. But in the meantime, it stinks that we can’t just get the film Zombie intended in the first place.

31, by the way, is about some kidnapped carnival workers who are forced to survive a place called “Murder World” (which is filled with homicidal clowns) for 12 hours. I doubt many of them do. But I can’t wait to see them try!
