JESSICA JONES Finally Gets Its Order For A Second Season

Netflix just wanted to mess with us a little.

Yesterday brought us news that Netflix and Marvel will develop a spin-off for the Punisher. But it did not bring us news that Netflix and Marvel would make a second season of their acclaimed show, Jessica Jones. That is apparently today’s job.

Netflix announced the news at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, an event that blows up my Twitter feed once a year, even though I’m not 100% sure what it is. The show is official now, and until anyone says otherwise, Melissa Rosenberg and Liz Friedman are still in charge of it, which is a very good thing. It’s currently uncertain whether or not Jessica Jones season two will happen before or after The Defenders arrives.

Occasionally I come across people who disliked Jessica Jones season one, but for the most part, people hold the show in high esteem. I certainly think it’s great and look forward to seeing Jones’ further adventures, though I have a hard time believing the thematic solidity of season one can be topped.
