I’m not certain how many people still play Sonic the Hedgehog games, but the character itself is still recognizable as a cultural icon, so you might as well make a movie about him.
And that’s just what Sega is doing. According to an interview with Sega head honcho Hajime Satomi, the company plans to release a Sonic the Hedgehog movie in 2018, plenty of time for the fast little guy to get popular again, possibly with a FTP time management game.
The plan is for the film to be a hybrid between live action and animation. That’s about all the details he spilled, so you are welcome to assume that means Sonic will be live action while everything else is animated. Throw in voice acting from Ron Jeremy, and you have the absolute best case scenario for this thing.
