THE BROTHERS GRIMSBY Gets A New Red-Band Trailer
The newest red-band trailer for The Brothers Grimsby opens with footage from Sacha Baron Cohen's Da Ali G Show, a painfully transparent attempt to remind you that, hey, Sacha Baron Cohen used to be a comedic force to be reckoned with.
Turns out, this is the first of many red flags you will encounter while watching the trailer for The Brothers Grimsby.
Look, I like Sacha Baron Cohen and want good things for him, but there's no getting around how bad this trailer is. The Brothers Grimsby is an action-comedy, yet the action looks weak and - far more damningly - joke after joke falls flat on its face.
Everyone involved certainly seems to be giving it their all (Mark Strong's really committed to that "Suck my balls!" line), but if ripping off a decade-old SNL Celebrity Jeopardy gag ("I'll take 'The Rapists' for $500, Alex") and ramming things up Sacha Baron Cohen's ass is the best they got, The Brothers Grimsby might be in serious trouble.
The Brothers Grimsby opens on March 11th. I'd say "Here's hoping they're saving the good stuff for the actual movie", but honestly: I'm probably not going to bother to find out.
