A trailer that feels overdue for a movie that feels overdue, Ghostbusters is finally back, and it sure looks like something. Bridesmaids’ Paul Feig is at the reins of the franchise, and he seems to have created quite a fun spectacle. With talent like Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones involved, it’s hard not to root for this one. Good thing it looks like it’s worth rooting for.
Despite what the opening text says, this is most definitely a reboot of the series, where the Ghostbusters are a new concept to the world. There are homages-a-plenty, like the original fire house and a cameo by a certain slimy someone, and the plot seems to revolve around Victorian and/or carnival ghosts possessing people. Oh, and Chris Hemsworth shows up, too. Expect your usual slew of anger from the chronically childish, but I’m on board with this one and I expect most other people are, too. July 15th can’t come soon enough.
