The Canon Episode 66: LOLITA

The Canon's first Kubrick!

It's about time that the show got to Stanley Kubrick, and in fine Canon form we have chosen what may be his most controversial film for inclusion: Lolita. An adaptation of the masterpiece by Nabokov, Lolita is about a professor who finds himself falling for an underage girl. And also Peter Sellers doing schtick.

This episode gets heavily into concepts of adaptation, especially in light of Kubrick making almost nothing but unfaithful adaptations. And it gets a little bit into concepts of age of consent, the creation of the teenager and other weird social stuff.
