Full THE BFG Trailer Offers Tons Of Weird CG Majesty

Not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

I’ve watched this full trailer for The BFG a few times now, and I still don’t know what to think of it. Maybe you can help me out:

On the plus side, it’s always nice to see Spielberg go full-on Spielberg. This brief look is full of the awe and wonder we expect from him. On the negative side, I’m not sure we’re at that level where you can paste Mark Rylance’s face on a CG giant and not have it look creepy. On the negative negative side, I can’t understand a damn thing these giants say.

I’m more open to this than all that sounds, however. Deep down, the possibility of a good Steven Spielberg film outweighs the fear of a bad one. I consider The Adventures of Tintin, his last film to heavily rely on CG, a big success. Hopefully this’ll be one too. What do you think?
