One of the many aspects of Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man movie that has fans curious is what title Marvel will use - the assumption being that they can’t just do Spider-Man because we already had a series like that, and Amazing Spider-Man is also off the table thanks to Andrew Garfield’s run.
So what are they going to go with? The answer may have been revealed with Sony’s purchase of URL spidermanhomecomingthemovie.com, which indicates - as well as any speculative internet thing can, anyway - that Spider-Man’s next movie could be called Spider-Man: Homecoming.
I don’t like it, honestly. It feels soft and also has too many cutesy meanings (Spider-Man coming back to Marvel, Peter Parker attending a high school homecoming dance, etc.). It sounds more like a Spider-Man episode than movie.
And it might not be the name at all. It’s probably just a placeholder until they find something more definitive. In the meantime, we don’t have to wait all that long to see the web-slinger in action. Captain America: Civil War comes out May 6. You can, and should, buy the Birth.Movies.Death. magazine celebrating it here.
