Have you guys actually seen Jonathan Liebesman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I caught maybe twenty minutes of it on Netflix once and I could not believe how unpleasant-looking it was. The Turtles themselves look like dongs. The action was incoherent. Everything was inexplicably shiny and/or wet.
Anyway, it made $500 million, so now this is happening:
On the one hand, I still think they look like dongs. On the other hand, I think that, overall, things have been much improved. Splinter no longer looks like a walking, talking taint. There's some really cool effects happening in broad daylight (what is that cool-looking thing in the sky? Is that Krang's ship?). I dig the way Bebop and Rocksteady look, and I'm particularly fond of whatever Tyler Perry's doing in his brief appearance. He really seems to be leaning into the goofiness of the thing, and I like that.
I dunno. I'm probably never going to bother, but I do think this looks better than the first one. How 'bout you guys?
