It’s been a while since Jason Statham has been in a real Jason Statham movie instead of an ensemble. But if he’s going to jump back into the thick of things, he might as well do it by beating the shit out of a giant shark.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Statham will star in an adaptation of Meg, a book about a giant prehistoric shark that needs to be taught a lesson. Since he’s not playing the shark, I assume Statham's playing the foot that kicks the shark in the ass fin.
Meg has been an almost movie for many years now. I have to admit, if it took waiting this long to get a guy like Statham involved, I’m glad it didn’t get made earlier. Plus, all our movie shark business lately has been in service of bad joke movies. I think we’re all ready to see one that means business.
Meg, which will be directed by National Treasure’s Jon Turtletaub, won’t be out for a long, long time. Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.
