THE CABIN IN THE WOODS’ Fran Kranz Joins THE DARK TOWER
Most of what we’ve heard about the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower indicates a messy adaptation what will likely make fans of the series go insane with rage. Why ruin a good trend?
The Hollywood Reporter claims another actor has joined the Dark Tower ranks - Fran Kranz, who you may remember as the stoner guy from The Cabin in the Woods. Kranz will play Pimli, who the site describes as “right-hand man of the Man in Black.”
So if you know the books, you’re probably very confused right now. Pimli is a character who doesn’t show up until the last novel. Okay, we already know a lot of that stuff is going to get shoved into this first movie somehow. But describing Pimli as the Man in Black’s lackey is a bridge too far. Not only do we never see those two characters hang out, but I can’t recall the Man in Black ever having a right-hand man, really. This is an impressive triple-fucked.
This whole thing is so irritating. Getting a movie version of The Dark Tower is exciting business. That it already sounds awful, like a week into filming, is very disappointing.
