WOLVERINE 3, Whatever It Is About, Has Already Starting Filming

Things are about to get stabby.

While we don’t yet know exactly how much screen time Wolverine will get in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse (though I assume it isn’t much), we do know that Hugh Jackman has one more solo adventure to go before quitting the character completely.

That last hurrah, currently known simply as Wolverine 3 and rumored to be an “Old Man Logan” story, has now started filming. We don’t know what it’s about. Hopefully Jackman and director James Mangold do.

Collider has an interview with another person who might actually know the synopsis, producer Simon Kinberg. In it, Kinberg does a nice job of rounding up all the rumors about the film so far, while confirming that it will in fact go for an R-rating:

“I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.”

That all sounds well and good (especially the Western tone part). Many assume Wolverine 3's R-rating is a result of Deadpool’s wild success earlier this year, but it’s also been said that this was always intended to be a more grown up Wolverine story. I doubt Deadpool hurt, though.

In any case, whatever the filmmakers are up to, they are up to it currently, which means it shouldn’t be much longer before we starting getting more solid information.
