Here's an exciting bit of casting news: Christopher Meloni, long the secret weapon of David Wain and any other director who's ever needed a scene-stealing character actor, has joined Amy Schumer's upcoming untitled mother-daughter adventure comedy.
Directed by Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, 50/50) and written by The Heat's Katie Dippold, the film will star Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer as a mother and daughter who...y'know, actually, beyond that? We're not sure. Beyond the familial bond, the details surrounding Hawn and Schumer's characters aren't clear, but Deadline does report that Meloni will be playing "a man who is on the search for hidden treasure after having been diagnosed with terminal cancer."
Deadline goes on to explain that Dippold wrote the script based on her relationship with her mother.
Anyway, any time Christopher Meloni joins a film, it's good news. That he's joining an Amy Schumer/Goldie Hawn adventure comedy as a treasure-hunting cancer patient is even better. There's no telling what hijinks might ensue.
By the way, I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that Meloni is a standout (no easy feat!) in Wain's They Came Together, which is a movie that literally every one of you should sit down and watch right now.
