RAIDERS!: THE STORY OF THE GREATEST FAN FILM EVER MADE Gets A Poster And A Trailer
Way way way back in the day, three kids - Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala, and Jayson Lamb - decided to remake Raiders of the Lost Ark shot for shot. It took them their whole childhoods, but they eventually got it done - all except for the big airport set piece. Now they’re grown up and finally righting that wrong.
That’s the story documented by Drafthouse Film’s Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made, the trailer for which you can watch below:
Also, check out the poster (via IndieWire):
As you can see, Raiders! seems to have that special quality shared by great documentaries where tons of real pathos gets uncovered by an examination of something very silly on the surface. It’s plenty wacky that these guys made a fan film, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a massive undertaking that affected their life.
The film hits theaters and VOD June 17, but Strompolos and Zala are taking both the documentary and their actual fan film on the road for a tour of double features followed by Q&As. If you live around any of these cities, you should totally check it out:
