DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Will Be Directed By GOOSEBUMPS’ Rob Letterman

The odds of Jack Black appearing in DUNGEONS & DRAGONS just increased by 500%.

Well, this was the word on the street, but now it's official: Goosebumps' Rob Letterman will direct Dungeons & Dragons for Warner Bros.

In addition to Goosebumps, you might recall Letterman from his directorial work on Shark Tale and Gulliver's Travels, which is just another way of saying that Jack Black's probably going to have a role in Dungeons & Dragons.

You might also recall that, back in February, producer Roy Lee told Collider that the new Dungeons & Dragons would be "a Guardians of the Galaxy-tone movie in a Tolkien-like universe". On paper, that sounds like a great idea, and with that description in mind, Letterman actually makes perfect sense for the job (dude clearly knows how to juggle gee-whiz special effects and humor).

Sounds like he's got a handle on the material, too: according to Variety, Letterman was competing with several other directors for the gig, and his pitch on the material convinced Warner Bros. to hand him the keys.

Anyway, here's hoping they do something interesting with it. Y'know, for the nerds.
