THOR: RAGNAROK May Have More PLANET HULK In It Than You Expected

Well, this is exciting.

Note: potential spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok follow.

For a long time, people have theorized that Marvel might one day deliver a Planet Hulk movie. They've been doing this for as long as Marvel's been making movies, but the chatter's been particularly heavy since 2013, when Latino Review ran a scoop suggesting that this is where Hulk might be headed after Avengers: Age Of Ultron (more about that here).

As we learned in this post, a standalone Planet Hulk movie simply isn't possible (short version: Marvel can't because Universal retains the rights to standalone Hulk movies), but what if they piggybacked Planet Hulk onto another Marvel joint? Say, Taika Waititi's forthcoming Thor: Ragnarok?

JoBlo has an answer for us:

The film will definitely have the Planet Hulk element in it, operating as a kind of mash-up with the Ragnarok story. How Thor ends up on the planet in question is unclear, but he will definitely be involved in some gladiatorial games run by none other than Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster. In terms of Hulk’s appearance in this portion of the film, he will be rocking the one-shoulder armor as seen in the comics, so expect him to be decked out in the familiar Planet Hulk look.

So, that's exciting! It's not a full-blown Planet Hulk movie, but it sounds like Thor: Ragnarok might provide us with enough highlights to satisfy fans. As for the rest of Thor: Ragnarok's plot, JoBlo says the film will involve Thor (who, for whatever reason, won't be sporting the long and flowing locks we've come to associate with the character) on a mission to "find the ultimate weapon to stop Ragnarok and reset the universe". What kind of weapon? No one seems to know, but really: how much of this movie do you want spoiled for you ahead of time?

Head on over to JoBlo to read the rest of their report.

Thor: Ragnarok will arrive on November 3rd, 2017.
