Lin-Manuel Miranda is leaving Hamilton next month to pursue and conquer other things. One of those projects is producing the music for Disney’s big, upcoming animated movie Moana. And it looks like he won’t have to make that trip alone.
According to EW, Hamilton star Phillipa Soo has joined Moana’s cast as a villager of the main character’s home island, Motunui. This will be Soo's first voice over role, but so long as she sings her character's name really loud any time she’s onscreen, we should have no problem recognizing her.
Moana tells the story of a teen from the South Pacific who crosses the ocean to save her people, accompanied by the Rock of course. There are a lot of monsters involved, and all the music will probably be awesome.
Moana will hit theaters November 23.
