Thor Won’t Be In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (And He Doesn’t Need To Be)
If James Gunn didn’t want people thinking Thor would show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, he probably shouldn’t have Instagrammed this photo:
Anyone with even passing knowledge of how the internet works can predict what such a photo leads to: a bunch of crazy speculation on Thor’s place in the new GOTG movie. It’s not unwarranted either. Thor, after all, is a cosmic character. GOTG take place in outer space. They’ve already crossed over via a post-credit sequence. So why not?
Of course, this means Gunn had to go on Facebook and ruin everyone’s day with a bunch of cold water:
No, Thor isn't in Vol. 2 - the props guy just happened to have it around and I decided to take a pic with it. Not sure if I'm able to lift it because I'm worthy or because I'm soulless like an elevator.
I can understand wanting to take a picture with Mjolnir. But it’s easy to see why everyone got so excited for a moment. So keep this in mind if Gunn next takes a photo with Captain America’s shield or some web shooters or Batman's cowl (for some reason).
