According to Variety, Angelina Jolie is in early talks to join Kenneth Branagh's Murder On The Orient Express.
As you may or may not already know, Murder On The Orient Express (based on the Agatha Christie novel of the same name) tells the following story:
Just after midnight, the famous Orient Express is stopped in its tracks by a snowdrift. By morning, the millionaire Samuel Edward Ratchett lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. One of his fellow passengers must be the murderer.
Isolated by the storm, detective Hercule Poirot must find the killer among a dozen of the dead man's enemies, before the murderer decides to strike again...
Branagh himself will play Poirot, but for the time being there's no indication which role Jolie might be circling. Sidney Lumet's 1974 adaptation featured an all-star cast (including Sean Connery, Lauren Bacall, Vanessa Redgrave, Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman and John Gielgud), and the common presumption is that Branagh's version will also employ a ridiculously-famous cast. One wonders what other actors and actresses the production might be eyeing.
Anyway, I'm into this news, and I'm certainly into this project. We'll be keeping you informed as updates arrive.
