Netflix Lands THE DISCOVERY, Starring Robert Redford, Jason Segel And Rooney Mara

They can't all be Adam Sandler movies.

Today, Netflix added some prestige to its ever-expanding library of original films with Charlie McDowell's The Discovery, a sci-fi drama that will star Robert Redford, Rooney Mara and Jason Segel. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter: 

"(The Discovery) is set one year after the existence of the afterlife is scientifically verified. Redford plays the scientist responsible for the discovery, while Segel portrays his son Will and Mara playing Isla, a woman haunted by a tragic past who Will begins to fall in love with."

Well, that's a helluva hook.

It's also a helluva cast (in addition to Redford, Mara and Segel, The Discovery also features performances from Riley Keough and Jesse Plemmons). Combined with McDowell's already-established talent for working with this kind of material (see also: The One I Love), I think this one's worth looking forward to. 

The Discovery will get a limited theatrical run and arrive on Netflix sometime in 2017.
