This new trailer is not our first look at Tim Burton’s upcoming Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, but it’s certainly the best one we’ve had yet:
While a bit talky, I appreciate how much work this trailer does setting up both the film’s world and narrative. You got your wacky superpower kids, your time travel shenanigans, your villains (holy smokes Samuel L. Jackson looks cool in this!) and your central character who has to learn all this stuff right along with us. On the other hand, they probably could have skipped all that work and just put up a title card that reads “Tim Burton’s X-Men”.
But I’m glad they didn’t because I like the looks of the film, which is saying a lot considering how long it’s been since I looked forward to a Tim Burton movie. This looks fun and exciting, and I can’t wait to see how Eva Green manages to sneak in some nudity.
This movie with a very long title comes out September 30.
