It’s been a long time coming, but David Goyer’s Krypton is actually happening now. The show, which takes place two generations before Superman’s home world blows the hell up, received a pilot order in May and now has character descriptions for its main cast.
First off, you have Superman’s grandpa, Seg-El, who will by a hunky type in his 20s. The show will also feature Superman’s great grandpa Ter-El and great great grandpa Val-El, who is said to have explored the Phantom Zone. I think he will be the breakout character.
But that’s not all! We’ll also see the relatives of another famous Kryptonian, Zod, in the form of Lyta Zod, a reluctant warrior in her 20s and her mother Alura Zod. It’s unclear specifically how Lyta Zod is related to the Zod we all know and kneel in front of, but I think she will be the breakout character.
Dev-Em, a character from Superman comics who is described as a “chiseled twenty-something bad boy” will also be involved. TV bad boys are always great, so I think he will be the breakout character.
So there you have it. You got the Superman family, the Zod family, and the show’s supercool bad boy. Sounds like a recipe for genre television to me! Now they just have to cast these roles so we can begin writing tumblr posts about them making out.
