Last week, Entertainment Tonight provided us with our first look at footage from Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and even though said footage was marred by ET's typically vapid narration ("Tom is BACK as former drifter and army officer JACK REACHER") and pointless talking-head cutaways, you could still tell that Tom Cruise was going to own a lot of chumps in this movie. It was exciting.
Well, now there's a full-length trailer, and it contains even more ass-kicking than expected.
If you're like me, the promise of seeing Tom Cruise kick ass and drop quips for two hours is usually more than enough to get you into a theater. But Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (based on another of Lee Child's wildly popular Jack Reacher novels) doesn't seem content to coast on kicked asses and devastating quips alone: there's also another interesting mystery to solve, a set piece involving a prison break-in, and Cobie Smulders.
Edward Zwick's directing this time (original director Christopher McQuarrie is onboard as an executive producer), which doesn't exactly set my world on fire, but whatever: I remember sleeping on the first Jack Reacher, only to feel really stupid when I finally got around to giving it a chance. I promised Tom that wouldn't happen again.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back arrives on October 21st. You guys into it or what?
