KICKBOXER: VENGEANCE Trailer Makes It Clear What Kind Of Movie You’re Getting

As with everything in this world, this could use more JCVD.

A trailer for Kickboxer: Vengeance came out a couple days ago, but I was too busy actually watching the movie to share it. Now, I rectify that incredible wrong. Please forgive me:

The trailer tries to sell Kickboxer: Vengeance as generically as possible, choosing to ignore all the weird little Jean-Claude Van Damme tics that give it the only real oomph the film has. In fact, had I not already seen the movie, I would assume JCVD is barely in it in favor of major Dave Bautista screen time. The opposite is actually the case.

But as far as just narrative concerns, the trailer does a good job getting all that across. Not that there’s much to convey. A guy’s brother gets killed; he trains to take on his killer. That’s pretty much it. As you can see, our hero isn’t the most charismatic guy. Luckily, JCVD is there weirding things up most of the movie.

Kickboxer: Vengeance, which is meant to be the first in a trilogy of films, comes out September 2.
