For whatever reason, Hollywood just takes it for granted that Jackie Chan needs to be teamed up with someone in his movies. We’ve seen him hang out with Chris Tucker and Owen Wilson already. Now it’s time to see him get goofy with Johnny Knoxville:
While Skiptrace does seem like the kind of movie that would be more at home coming out a decade ago, that doesn’t mean this won’t be fun. In fact, the trailer is kind of a silly blast. It’s all very familiar, but who doesn’t want to watch Jackie Chan bicker with Johnny Knoxville for two hours? The only way this could be improved is if Knoxville was in his Bad Grandpa character. Maybe in the sequel.
If nothing else, I’m excited to see a nonsensical, over-the-top Renny Harlin movie coming down the pike. I’m only human. Skiptrace comes out September 2.
