In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts has revealed some crucial new information about who's playing who.
For starters, The Grand Budapest Hotel's Tony Revolori will play Flash Thompson, Peter Parker's high school bully. That's an interesting choice! Tony Revolori just doesn't strike me as the bullying type, so it'll be interesting to see what sort of approach he takes to the character (Devin's report on the Spider-Man: Homecoming footage screened at SDCC may contain some hints about the dynamic of their relationship).
Meanwhile, Zendaya will play a character named Michelle (no further info, though there's speculation this could be another Michelle from the comics, Michelle Gonzalez), Laura Harrier will play Liz Allan (in the comics, Liz is Flash Thompson's ex-girlfriend and a potential new love interest for Peter), and Jacob Batalon will play Ned Leeds (in the comics, Ned Leeds is one of Peter's rivals at the Daily Bugle).
Here's the crew pictured together, in a very Breakfast Club-esque photo also revealed by Entertainment Weekly:
Well, what say you, folks? You like this casting? Think Zendaya's Michelle will be the same Michelle from the comics? Excited to see Tom Holland's Peter Parker go toe-to-toe with Michael Keaton's Vulture? Express your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives July 7th, 2017.
