Only ‘90s Kids Will Understand Why Anyone Cares About MTV CLASSIC

The new channel will offer all nostalgia all the time.

On August 1, a channel I didn’t know about called VH1 Classic will turn into a different channel called MTV Classic. Here is a video that kind of tells you what that means:

Essentially this means old youngsters will get a channel designed to mimic the MTV they remember as children, back before they turned to a life of minimum wage drudgery, drug addiction, and/or baby woes.

The channel will start things off catering to a whole different generation however, by airing the first hour MTV aired way back on August 1, 1981. Then it will fast forward big time to a Total Request Live retrospective. After that, they’re doing a best of MTV Unplugged thing.

Only then will the channel finally settle down, featuring shows like Beavis and Butt-Head, Daria, Aeon Flux, Pimp My Ride, Clone High (this one’s especially exciting), and a bunch of other old programs. Friday nights will be specifically sectioned off for music-related shows. If you’re really lucky, they’ll even bring back Remote Control.

I'm being a dick about all this, but let it be known: if I ever find myself in a hotel room with nothing else to do, I will watch the shit out of this.
